Power Rangers Unlimited: The Morphin Masters #1 Revealed! – Darkest Hour Tie-In

Darkest Hour is the biggest Power Rangers story since Shattered Grid. During this event, we have seen Dark Specter make his presence known in a way that is much sooner than what we saw in the Power Rangers TV show universe. Now BOOM! Studios has announced a new tie-in one-shot to Darkest Hour titled Power Rangers Unlimited: The Morphin Masters releasing January 31, 2024.

Adding to the excitement of this new Power Rangers Unlimited comic is the return of Ryan Parrott as a co-writer for the one-shot. Parrott will be joined by Rachel Wagner, artist Daniel Bayliss, colorist Arthur Hesli, and letterer Ed Dukeshire to make up the creative team for Power Rangers Unlimited: The Morphin Masters.

With The Morphin Masters one-shot set to release on January 31, 2024, it will be taking place around the in-universe time period as Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #116. Acting as Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #116.5, we see the Coinless Universe’s Kimberly Hart front and center on two of the covers for The Morphin Masters one-shot. In addition, we got the following teaser:

Picking up right after the shocking events of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #116, an iconic returning character has entered The Grid in a desperate attempt to find the Morphin Masters and the answers they might possess.

Speaking on their work for Power Rangers Unlimited: The Morphin Masters, co-writers Ryan Parrott and Rachel Wagner had the following to say:

Ryan Parrott: “I mean the opportunity to come back to Power Rangers even just for a single issue was honestly too good to pass up, especially when it meant getting to write a Ranger Slayer story again…..Plus, what Melissa has done with the franchise has been nothing short of amazing, so it was truly an honor to finally get to tie together so many of the exciting lore threads regarding the Grid and the Morphin Masters that we all introduced… and I can’t believe I’m saying this, but… years ago.”

Rachel Wagner: “I so greatly appreciate the chance to play in Ryan and Melissa’s sandbox! I deeply relate to Ranger Slayer’s story in this one and was beyond excited with the opportunity to delve deeper into the cost of fighting for others with no regard for yourself….As for the Grid, Masters, and lore – I truly hope you all have as much fun reading it as Ryan and I did writing it!”

Along with the announcement of Power Rangers Unlimited: The Morphin Masters BOOM! Studios provided us with a first look at the covers by Toni Infante, Goñi Montes, and Miguel Mercado. You can check out the three covers below.
