Cable was given the assignment of protecting the first mutant born since M-Day. He left everything behind and took her through the timestream. In the present, Bishop is still trying to convince the X-Men that the Messiah Child must die. He tricks the X-Men and attacks them.

Due to Bishop’s efforts, the future is not a good place. Cable, his wife Hope, and the child built a home in the town of New Liberty. Humans were forced to mix their DNA with insects to create beings who could survive in the new world. An insect army claims to be the US Army. The insects capture Hope.

They hold her at gunpoint to force Cable to surrender. Cable puts on a slave collar. Their first order to him is to kill his wife and the child. The child takes his knife and stabs the insect. Now that they are free, Cable leads them to the old X-Mansion. During an ambush, Hope is killed.

I expected more out of this comic. The art is a mix of various styles that do not work good together. Sometimes it is realistic, sometimes cartoony, other times it is photographic. Some images are well done but the overall effect is poor.

The story does not seem to have moved forward from the start of the Messiah Child. I will wait until the next storyline before I try this one again.

Not recommended.
