One of the most exciting comic books coming out in the early part of 2024 is Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return. Now BOOM! Studios has provided us with a preview of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return #1 ahead of its February 7, 2024 release.
Spinning out of one of the stories from the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers 30th Anniversary Special anthology, the latest Power Rangers mini-series features the continued return of the original Pink Ranger, Amy Jo Johnson, as one of the writers for the series. Joining Johnson will be co-writer Matt Hotson and artist Nico Leon.
With Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return Johnson, Hotson, and Leon will be presenting us with an alternate universe where we will see how events could’ve played out if Jason, Kimberly, Trini, and Zack didn’t leave the team like they did during the show’s run.
We recently learned that the series will feature the debut of the daughter of Tommy Oliver and Kimberly Hart, named Olivia Hart, who will be the new Green Ranger. In the preview for Morphin Power Rangers: The Return #1 we see our first glimpse of the Renegade Red Ranger in action. This all plays off the dark future teased in the solicitation for the first issue:
In an alternate universe, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers finally defeated Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd, but at a terrible cost… In the wake of tragedy, the team went their separate ways. 22 years later, the long-disbanded team reunites to mourn the losses of beloved friends, but Zack and Billy have some unexpected information to share—Jason, the Red Ranger, has been operating as a lone vigilante, and has since disappeared. Will the remaining Rangers be able to track him down, especially with a mysterious figure in pursuit?

Morphin Power Rangers: The Return #1 will be available in comic book shops and digital store fronts on February 7, 2024.
